Inspired by Seth Godin’s post on the challenges faced by non-professional writers, I wanted to explore how these ideas apply to the modern workplace and how we can navigate the expectations of effective communication in our daily roles.

“Most of us are not tasked with designing bridge’s, composing sonnets, or performing open-heart surgery”. These highly specialized tasks are left to trained experts, as they should be. But there’s another skill, often taken for granted, that many professionals are expected to master — writing.

We all wear multiple hats. Whether you’re an engineer, a project manager, a healthcare professional, or an educator, there’s one skill that’s silently tucked into your job description — writing. It’s not something we often think about, but it’s there, demanding our attention in emails, reports, proposals, and even the occasional newsletter.

Think of the professional world as a bustling city. In this city, writing is the infrastructure — the roads, bridges, and tunnels that connect different parts of the business.
